ASCETIC

Privacy Policy

Last changed 17 October 2026.

This policy explains what ASCETIC collects, where it goes and what you can do about it. ASCETIC is run by Jordan Mark Straub in Manitoba, Canada ("we" on this page). Questions and requests: straubjordan2025@gmail.com. Mailing address: 40016 33 RD N La Broquerie west, Manitoba R0A 0W2, Canada.

Your training stays on your device

Your profile, programs, logged sessions, lift history, bodyweight entries, settings and progress photos are saved in your browser's storage on your phone or computer. There is no account, and none of it is sent to us. We cannot see it and we cannot recover it. Clearing your browser's site data, removing the app or losing the device can erase it. Use Backup & export in Settings to keep a copy: a backup is a file you download and keep yourself.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, the email address you type is sent to Kit, the email service we use (Kit, formerly ConvertKit, is based in the United States). Kit sends you a confirmation email first, and you are on the list only once you confirm. We use your address to send launch news about ASCETIC, including the founding-member email with the app link. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

As part of running the list, Kit records when and how you signed up and may record whether you open or click our emails. If Kit suspects an automated signup, it may ask you to complete a security check by Google (reCAPTCHA) on its own page. Kit's privacy policy: kit.com/privacy.

Hosting

The website and the app are served by Vercel, based in the United States. Like any web host, Vercel receives technical information each time a page loads, such as your IP address and your browser and device type, and keeps it in its logs for a limited time to run and secure the service. Vercel's privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-notice.

Visitor counts

On the site's front page we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not identify you: a visit is counted by a code made from your request that changes every day. It records the page, the site you came from, your country and your browser, operating system and device type. It does not run inside the app or on the Terms, Privacy or Health pages.

Exercise videos

When you open a form video, it plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player; for most lifts the app opens a YouTube search instead. Either way YouTube, which is part of Google, receives information about your device and what you watch, under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Sharing a workout or a block

Share codes, links and QR codes are made on your device. A workout code carries that day's exercises, sets and your weights. A block code carries the lifts, sets, rep ranges, effort, method and focus, and your first name. They go only where you send them, through your phone's share sheet or by copying, and whoever you send them to can read them.

Emails you send us

If you suggest an exercise from the Library, your own email app opens a message to us. If you send it, we receive your email address and what you wrote, and we use them only to answer you and to consider the exercise.

Cookies

The website and the app set no cookies. The app uses your browser's storage to save your training, as above, and to remember your theme and language. The Instagram link takes you to Instagram, which has its own privacy policy.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent your information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your training data for anything, because we do not have it.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any of them. You can ask us what we hold about you (for most people, only a waitlist email address), ask us to correct it or delete it, or withdraw your consent, by writing to straubjordan2025@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.

Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA) applies to us, and depending on where you live you may have further rights, for example under the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Canada that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Where your information is processed

Kit and Vercel process information in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in Canada and in your country. By joining the waitlist you agree to that transfer.

Age

ASCETIC is for people 16 and older. If you are under 18, use it with a parent's or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect the email address of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how we use your email address, we will tell the waitlist by email before it takes effect.
